Social Work
Social workers in CAMHS support children, young people, and their families by addressing social and environmental factors impacting mental health, advocating for their needs, and connecting them to essential services.
Our Social Workers as part of the multidisciplinary team assist in carrying out comprehensive assessments of young people, taking into account their family and social contexts. We have expertise in working with children and families from a perspective which is grounded in systems theory, the social sciences and social justice.
Social Workers aim to help mobilise the resources of the child and family in finding solutions to their difficulties. We do so by providing a variety of therapeutic interventions including individual, family and group therapies. We use approaches that are evidence-based and in keeping with best practice principles.
Our Social Workers are committed to on going professional development and have close links with Irish Universities. We also provide practice placements for social work students in training.
